Independent Report
generalSha Villa is basically a training school for the student of SHATEC - the international hotel and tourism college, to get hands on experience to run a actual hotel. The service is better than you can find elsewhere as after all the staff is trained and more motivated to please. The profits are put back into the student's programme and is non profit. Besides, the building itself is historical with great charm and authentic Asian finishing. sg 02/07
lobbyThe lobby is small with a simple front desk. Immediately facing the front doors is the restaurant Rosette.
exteriorThe exterior is a 3 storey white building with the historical elegance of the 1950's.
restaurantRosettes serves up popular continental cuisine and is done by the SHA (Singapore Hotel Association) student chefs. The atmosphere is almost elegant fine dining except like the rest of the hotel, it is run by trainees going into the hotel industry.
roomsThe rooms are very charmingly done in polished hard wood floors and furniture is teakwood. The decor is very turn of the century Asian. The bathrooms are simple and done in white and pink tiles with a shower in bath. Rooms come in inner and outer courtyard and there are no windows in the standard rooms.
locationLocated in a quiet side street called Lloyds Road, the hotel is actually only 5 minutes walk from Orchard Road and the Somerset MRT station. Surrounding it are numerous eateries that cater to both the local and western palate.
