Despite its newly renovated rooms, elegant entryway and modern lobby space, the Broadway Plaza Hotel has a rich history. Located at the corner of 27th and Broadway on the north edge of Manhattan?s famed Flatiron District, this historic hotel in New York was once a movie theater. In fact, the corner lot on which the Broadway Plaza Hotel sits was once home to New York City?s first movie theater back in the 1920s. The hotel is now in a more modern building ? renovated as recently as March 2013 ? but much of the area holds its historic charm. The hotel is neighbored by a set of prewar walk-up buildings, and many of the structures along Broadway carry the elegant detailing for which the Flatiron District is known.
