location
The Andaz 5th Avenue is located in the fashionable Bryant Park area of Midtown Manhattan, across the iconic New York Public Library.
rooms
The Andaz King is a 322-sq.-ft./30-sq.-meter sanctuary with 12 foot ceilings and large windows overlooking a landscaped courtyard. Rooms are loft-like with oversized bathrooms in travertine marble, with walk-in rain shower, double sinks, and a black porcelain foot bath to relax your peds after an active New York day. Sink into a king platform bed surrounded by plush carpeting. Entertainment is provided by the Geneva Sound System with iPod docking and a 42-inch LCD, high-definition television.
restaurant
The Andaz has two restaurants, The shop is located at the corner of 5th Avenue and 41st Street and features dishes created and inspired by foods that come from our farmer friends and producers around the state. The bar, The open kitchen and bar seats 80 people at communal bar tables, banquettes and lounge seating, and serves seasonal cocktails and shared plates.
exterior
A modern building with a Limestone and brick facade.
lobby
The lobby , filled with comfy-yet-sleek couches and chairs , is also where I got a free cup of coffee in the morning, a barista is on hand to make complimentary espresso drinks.
general
The interior of Andaz 5th Avenue is inspired by New York City. Within the limestone and brick facade of the historic 1916 Rogers Peet Building , once a men's retail store ,Tony Chi has created spaces inspired by the high-ceilings and solidity of the city's pre-war apartments and the moments that characterize the city in the minds of New Yorkers. The ground and second floors are open spaces; a facade of floor-to-ceiling glass framed in limestone echoes the library across the street. The spaces might remind you of the city on a rainy day or the moment right before dawn breaks when the streets are silent, and New York is all yours.(Y/T 10/10)
