Independent Report
locationThe Izmailova Vega was built in 1978 in time for the Moscow Olympics on the site of the historic Izmailova village and Royal Estate where Peter the Great grew up. The hotel is just outside the centre but Izmailovsky Metro Station is just across the road and only six stops to Red Square.
roomsAll the rooms are medium in size and can comfortable accommodate two adults. There is a private reception on each floor that also sells extras should you require anything.
restaurantThere are a selection of food and beverage outlets in the hotel and the other hotels in the complex are only a short walk away.
exteriorThe building itself plain high rise building typical of Soviet architecture at the time very similar in design to it's other three sister hotels close by.
lobbyThe medium sized lobby has been recently renovated and is very modern and white in stark contrast to the outside of the building.
generalThe hotel overlooks the former Royal Estate Lake where Peter the Great learned to sail, an early passion for which he exceled and was his inspiration for founding the Russian navy. Also beside the hotel is the Izmailova market which is very popular with both locals and tourist like due to it's competitive prices. Overall this is a very good value western style modern hotel which offers the guests many choices of facilities with easy access to the city centre. SC0308
