pleasenoteThe Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources is conducting a project to restore sand to approximately 1,730 feet of shoreline from the west end of the Kuhio Beach, near the Duke Kahanamoku statue, to the existing Royal Hawaiian groin. Restoration work will be occuring on Waikiki Beach between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon daily. Pedestrians will be able to access the ocean during work times by crossing over the haul route at designated crossing locations. The Diamond Head end of Kuhio basin will remain off-limits for the duration of the project.
