Independent Report
lobbyThe lobby is very small but beautifully decorated with dark and relaxing colours, candles and flowers in abundance and small desks for check in. This in turn leads to the delightful lounge/lobby area which is where the hotels high tea is served and where ample seating is available.
generalFollowing its complete renovation, this is possibly the best hotel in the Netherlands. It has been beautifully restored to its former, traditional heyday, but with modern touches, and offers the utmost in luxury. It also comes complete with a health spa which is located on the lower ground floor and is almost like a labyrinth, with arches leading to treatment rooms and a small indoor swimming pool. This hotel comes highly recommended. CG/08/2007
exteriorThis is a very grand, impressive, traditional building.
restaurantThe restaurant/lobby is one of the main features of this hotel as it serves a very famous and traditional high tea which consists of 5 courses!! The decor is again very traditional with a modern twist and reds and black colours prevail with sofas and armchairs and popular trendy background music giving it a very relaxing but exclusive feel. At the back of this large area is the actual a la carte restaurant which serves breakfast and lunch and dinner and offers a fusion menu
roomsThis hotel reopened in 2005 after a major renovation throughout by Jacques Garcia. The bedrooms are all large and very beautiful with huge beds, all with canopies over them, and typical Garcia touches such as studded or tassled furnishings. They are very traditional but with a modern twist and are in excellent condition. The bathrooms are also impeccable and tasteful and in excellent condition with stone floor, painted walls and Italian marble sinks. There are also typical Dutch references throughout eg the hotel room are on Dutch tulip vases and vast, hand painted tulips adorn the walls of the corridors.
locationThis hotel is located in the city centre, next to the former Royal Palace and near the Royal Park of The Hague, a short stroll from the main shopping areas and the Houses of Parliament.
