Independent Report
generalA charming but basic hotel - more akin to a B and B. The hotel makes a great base from which to explore all that Dublin City has to offer and the Luas Tram passes nearby making all areas in the city accessible. It is great value and this part of Dublin with the Canal is a good part to base yourself in. The hotel also has a nightclub directly attached to it, so on Friday's and Saturday's it can get noisier. (GW 09/2011)
lobbyA small lobby with welcoming staff.
exteriorA Georgian Corner building with no redeeming features, but the brickwork is yellow. Easy to locate on the street.
restaurantThe Restaurant serves the local Dublin community refreshing light snacks teas and coffees in the traditional friendly Dublin fashion where quality is assured.
roomsThe ensuite rooms are spacious, comfortable and offer a range of facilities including: Direct dial telephone, Fax/modem, Guest Toiletries, Hair care facilities, Remote control TV/radio, Tea/Coffee making facilities. They are well proportioned and of quite a good standard given it's budget banding.
locationThe Portobello Hotel is set along the Grand Canal, a few minutes? walk from Stephen's Green in the centre of Dublin City. It can be found nestled on the edge of Dublin City?s entertainment and shopping district, Grafton Street, Trinity College, Dublin Castle, Olympia theatre, Gaiety Theatre, Guinness Storehouse and Christchurch Cathedral, are but a few of the attractions nearby
