location
Set in over nine acres of tranquil gardens and private woodland, bordering the A55 gateway to Wales, the hotel is 10 minutes drive from Chester with a wide range of attractions on it's doorstep such as Chester Racecourse and the Zoo. North Wales and it's stunning countryside, historic castles and and attractive coastal resorts are all waiting to be explored.
rooms
The 38 individually furnished en suite bedrooms have been tastefully decorated and presented to the highest standard to reflect the charm and splendour of the former Victorian country house. Each room is fully equiped with all modern amendities including tea and coffee making facilities, telephone, television (most flat screen) with freeview and WiFi. There are also four poster and Superior bedrooms available at a supplement.
restaurant
Chequers Restaurant is considered to be one of the finest restaurants in North Wales, offering outstanding cuisine from an impressive A La Carte menu. Launched in 2008, the Restaurant forms part of a new extension to the hotel that compliments and enhances the popular local landmark and provides an elegant 70 seat dining space. Using the finest local ingredients and produce, the menu offers dishes to satisfy any palette. The newly opened Terrace Room with it's own patio, serves a "Lighter Bite" menu and you can even dine "al fresco" weather permitting.
exterior
A beautiful Victorian Mansion. The original "Hall" of Northop has been tastefully modernised, retaining the oak paneling, majestic Canadian pine staircase and stained glass windows.
lobby
The reception is situated in the entrance hall underneath a grand sweeping staircase.
general
Recommended in the prestigious Welsh Rarebits "Hotels of Distinction Guide 2009", this privately owned quiet country retreat - set in beautiful surroundings - is perfect for a romantic break or family getaway. It's proximity to Chester city centre, Snowdonia and the North Wales coast is also an attraction. (GW 04/2009)
