generalThe InterContinental Mauritius Resort Balaclava Fort is located on one of the most pristine stretches of beach overlooking the Bay of Balaclava. Offering 210 well-appointed rooms, the resort is just a few metres from Baie aux Tortues, which 17th-century sailors named after the many tortoises in the area. A trip to the Central Market of Port Louis reveals handmade crafts and cuisine representing the different cultures and ethnicities of Mauritius, including Creole, Indian, Chinese and Muslim. The hotel is located just north of the capital, a 15-minute drive from the clubs and sights of Grand Baie and 50 minutes from Plaisance International Airport.
lobbyThe lobby is large and spacious, overlooking the sea. The lobby bar is located on the mezzanine level and the main restaurant is located on the lower level.
exteriorA modern, low-rising resort spread over a large area of land facing the sea on one side and overlooking the sugarcane plantations on the other.
restaurantThe main restaurant serves an international buffet for both breakfast and dinner. A Mediterranean and seafood speciality restaurant, located near the beach, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.
