generalIn addition, Mercer hotel has a swimming pool, WI-FI access, a day-care centre, transportation to local trade fairs, personal shoppers, a massage service, and an exclusive offer of sheets, pillows and fragances.
lobbyMedium size, in tune with the rest of the building.
exteriorThis is a small palace set into the age-old walls of Barcelona that architect Rafael Moneo has converted into a five-star luxury hotel. It incorporates impressive archaeological remains from the 1st to the 19th centuries. They include tower-bastion number 28 of the great Roman wall that once surrounded the city, and part of the passage atop that wall which has now been turned into a library. The building incorporates Gothic windows, neoclassic balconies, 19th-century mouldings and medieval wooeden ceilings.
restaurantFood is supervised by a renowned chef and its menu is a happy blench of market-fresh produce prepared with a slightly French touch. The hotel also boasts the Vermut Mercerino, an authentic tavern with a splendid selection of wines, cavas, tapas and sausages. And then there's the Negroni by Mercer cocktail lounge.
locationThis architectural marvel is located in the heart of Barcelona's Gothic quarter on mythic Calle Lledo, just a short distance from the Plaza Sant Jaume and Ramblas, in what was then the Roman city of Barcino. From the hotel there are exclusive views of the dome of the church Santa Maria del Mar, the basilica of Sant Just i Pastor and the Cathedral.
