generalThis is a very nice deluxe hotel with a very central location and which comes highly recommended. 081107JG
lobbyThe large lobby has recently been renovated and now benefits from a black and orange colour scheme with ample luxurious seating and intimate lighting. The restaurant’s cafe is also located in a part of the lobby.
exteriorThe building itself has been partly built from the facades of 19th historic buildings, most of which date from the 17th century.
restaurantThe hotel has a Michelin restaurant called ”Vermeer” which serves a la carte food in formal but relaxed surroundings. There is also a Dutch 'brown cafe' in typical local style, and an elegant cocktail lounge with original fireplaces. There is also the Hudson which serves food all day and is located in the lobby and where breakfast is served. The hotel bar has recently been renovated and is now very modern with modern seating, lighting, and relaxing music and serves cocktails as well as beer, wine etc.
roomsMany of the rooms are located in the restored 17th and 18th century part of the hotel with its original oak beams and rafters. They vary quite a lot in shape and size due to the age of the building, but are on average medium to large. They are decorated in typical Dutch style with dark wooden furniture, cosy armchairs and contrasting patterned fabrics and furnishings. Bathrooms are on the whole of medium size and modern.
locationThis hotel is situated in the oldest part of Amsterdam in the very heart of the city, overlooking Central station, a few minutes away from the main entertainment and shopping area, as well as the financial district.
