locationLocated in the very centre of town overlooking one of Amsterdams beautiful canals, this deluxe hotel is within walking distance of Central station, is also in the heart of the shopping district, close to the flower market and to all major tourist attractions.
roomsThe deluxe bedrooms are large in size measuring 30 - 35 square metres, and have incredibly large Cocomat beds with Indian silk bedcovers. They benefit from all the facilities one would expect from a deluxe hotel including lcd televisions, mini bar and even have ipads in the rooms. The bathrooms are amazing with floor to ceiling grey and white marble, fantastic power showers as well as seperate jacuzzi bath.
restaurantThe hotel has had a major total renovation which was completed in 2011 and now offers several food and beverage outlets including the Hoofdstaat Brasserie serving french bistrot food with an open kitchen and offering 700 different wines as well as small wine tasting tours. A luxurious and extensive breakfast is also served in this restaurant which offers wonderful views over the river Amstel. The Restaurant Bordeau is the gastronomic restaurant offering mouthwatering French cuisine with a Dutch twist and localised produces. It also benefits from extensive canal views and has outdoor seating, weather permitting. Freddies Bar is the original bar that Freddy Heineken, the founder of Heineken and owners of the hotel, loved to frequent. it is a very cosy, traditional bar and also offers a seperate smoking/cigar room.
exteriorA beautiful, traditional building with the kitchen of the famous restaurant at water level so that during a canal cruise, the kitchen is included in all canal cruises "places of interest" due to its worldwide reputation.
lobbyCompletely renovated in 2011 the lobby has the wow factor with its scarlett walls, copies of 6 Dutch master paintings (the originals may be seen in the Rijksmusuem) adorning the walls and Morano glass chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. This room also incorporates the lobby lounge and bar which offers drinks and light snacks and specialises in afternoon tea and of course the reception area.
